Mr. Matt Thayer - Atmospheres for Metal Processing

matt thayerMr. Matt Thayer is a Senior Principal Engineer at Air Products and has been involved in ongoing testing with the T5A Reactive Metal studies, critical in development of new Tantalum and Titanium alloys. Mr. Thayer will discuss basic atmospheres for metal processing and gas metal interactions.

Mr. Matt Thayer is a 1985 graduate of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. He is active in ASM International, National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) and Technical Association of the Pulp & Paper Industry (TAPPI). Matt has over 20 years experience in corrosion testing and evaluation for applications in mining, pulp & paper, chemical/ refining and pharmaceutical industries. Prior to his employment with Air product, he spent 18 years in technical/ project engineering and field service capacities.

and Technical Presentation At Brady’s Landing

Please join the Houston Chapter of ASM International, the American Welding Society (AWS) and Air Products on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 for a tour of the Air Products LaPorte air separation plant, followed by dinner at Brady’s Landing and a technical presentation by Matt Thayer, Senior Principal Engineer on basic atmospheres for metals processing. Watch Air Products make industrial gases out of thin air. We look forward to seeing you there. You must be pre registered online to enter Air Products facility.

4:30 – 5:00 p.m.

  • Arrival at Air Products’ plant
  • You can arrive at any point during this time  

4:30 – 6:15 p.m.

Plant tours

  • Air Products employees will show you how they separate air into thousands of tons per day of gaseous and liquid oxygen, nitrogen, and argon.
  • You must wear long pants and closed toe shoes to go on the tour.

  • Once your tour is over, you can head to Brady’s Landing for a “social hour.”
