Thermal Spray and Other Coatings A Key to Performance and Profitability
Thermal spray, physical vapor deposition, chemical vapor deposition, electrodeposition, and other types of coatings are capable depositing an extremely wide range of compositions for an equally wide range of applications. This presentation will address some of the technical and economic issues involved in the selection of an optimum coating for a given application. The technical issues include processing issues as well as the wear, corrosion, thermal, optical or other criteria to be satisfied by the coating in service. The economic considerations include both total life cycle costs and improved component performance benefits of a coating. Examples will be taken from gas and oil production, gas turbine, primary metals, and other industries.
