Topic: Aluminum Alloy Tubular Products for Oil & Gas Industry

Weatherford is a leading service provider to the oil & gas industry worldwide. Our major core segments are: Drilling, Evaluation, Completion, Production and Intervention. Aluminum Alloy Tubular (AAT) global product line offers Aluminum Drill Pipe, Tubing, Casing and Risers for challenging applications, including ultra extended reach drilling and highly corrosive environments.

Presenter will discuss development history of AATs, their role in well construction, material properties, testing procedures and product qualification. He will also cover how these products are being used in field. Some time will be allocated to structure and activities of Weatherfords new R&D Center in St. Petersburg and presentation will conclude with study of two specific aluminum alloys in consideration for Catenary Production Riser development.

Speaker

Aleksandr (Alex) Adelman is strategic business development manager for Weatherford International in Houston. He held various staff and management positions in the oil and gas industry since 1978, including Exxon-Mobil. Mr. Adelman is a member of SPE, participated in publication of Advanced Drilling Solutions – Lessons from FSU, two volume set written for international drilling community, and has extensive knowledge of the operating environment in Russian energy sector. He has a BS degree in mathematics and physics from SFA State University and did graduate work at Florida State University.
