FACILITY BACKGROUND
Boring Specialties, Inc. (BSI) began operations in 1972 as a machine shop that supplied trepanning equipment and services to customers serving the energy market. Since that time, BSI continued to expand its services to become a premier source for deep precision hole-making and finishing. In 2008, the assets of BSI were acquired by Timken and Timken Boring Specialties, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Timken Company, was formed.

PRODUCTS
Timken Boring Specialties combines high-quality steel, thermal treatment and value-added machining expertise to provide a wide range of products to the energy, mining and heavy-processing industries.

CORE TECHNOLOGIES
Deep-hole drilling and inner diameter (ID) finishing through methods such as step boring, pull boring, honing and skiving. ID processing is coupled with precision straightening, outer diameter(OD) turning, sawing, milling and inventory management to provide complete customer solutions.

CUSTOMERS
Products produced at this facility are primarily for the energy market. Key customer applications that use our products include drill collars, tool joints, mud motors, riser systems, kelly bars, heavyweight drill pipe, drill bits and more.
