Tools of the Trade: Materials Characterization
ASM International – Houston Chapter
Rice University, Houston, Texas
May 2, 2019
Abstracts should be sent by FEBRUARY 25, 2019 to asmhoustonseminar@asmhou.org
Â
The characterization and analysis of the structure and properties of materials is central to understanding the optimization of manufacturing processes, failure analysis to determine root cause, quality control, and verifying the basis of designs. The Committee is seeking presentations that include (but are not limited to) the following areas of interest:
- Innovative microscopy techniques
- Innovative image analysis techniques
- Field analysis and characterization techniques
- Approaches to batch/lot testing and qualification
- Characterization of polymers
- Characterization of protective coatings
- In situ sensing techniques
The Committee encourages submissions that involve actual equipment demonstrations, and case studies demonstrating the power of analysis in the field of Materials Engineering. This call for abstracts is an opportunity to present innovative approaches to the Tools of the Trade.
Abstracts should be no more than 500 words and should be accompanied by a brief biography of the presenter(s). Abstracts should be sent in MS Word or PDF format to asmhoustonseminar@asmhou.org  by FEBRUARY 25, 2019.
Presentations should be 30 minutes in length, including time for questions. We hope that presenters will provide an electronic version of the presentation on or before the date of the seminar for distributed to attendees. Â Of course, the presentation for distribution may be edited to exclude proprietary information or to include additional content which was not part of the oral presentation.
