Meeting Details: The 2013 ASM Houston Chapter “Student Night” will be hosted by Rice University. The meeting is an opportunity for Rice University to showcase their activities and research. The meeting will include a student poster session and a presentation by Dr. Edward Thomas, the Dean of Engineering at Rice University about the past and future of engineering at Rice. As Rice charges for all visitor parking, the chapter will cover all other costs for the evening, making Rice’s parking fee the only charge for the evening.
Location & Parking:
The meeting shall be held in the Duncan Hall, Room 3092 – Rice members shall be present to assist with directions to ASM attendees.
- Limited parking is available on campus in Visitor Lot near the Engineering Building (Location 23 on map link below). The maximum charge would be $11 per car for parking in the Visitor’s Lot nearest the Engineering Building.
- Further on-campus parking is available at Founder’s Court Lot, the Central Campus Garage, North Lot, and the Lovett North Saddleback Lot (denoted as Lot L on the map). Spaces are limited and an $11 per car fee applies. All of these lots are serviced by the campus shuttle.
- A final on-campus option is the Greenbrier Lot which is serviced by a shuttle from West Lot 3.
- Free parking is available at the Hermann Park Visitor’s Lot on the north side of Palmer Episcopal Church across Main Street from Entrance 3 to the Rice campus (see link for map). This is a city-owned lot.
On-street parking may be permitted after 6 pm as indicated by signs on Main Street. (Please check signs for any parking restrictions or fees).
