mfahChelsea Dacus will discuss the Glassell Gold Collection of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston (MFAH).  Chelsea is the Assistant Curator of the Glassell Collections, African, Oceanic, Pre-Columbian, and Antiquities at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. In her ten years at the MFAH she has assisted in the production of multiple exhibitions including The Spirit of Ancient Colombian Gold; Pompeii: Tales from an Eruption; Afghanistan: Hidden Treasures from the National Museum, Kabul; Dynasty and Divinity: Ife Art in Ancient Nigeria; The Cyrus Cylinder and Ancient Persia: A New Beginning; and Roads of Arabia: Archaeology and History of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  She also contributed to the museum publications Miniature Size, Magical Quality: Nasca Art from the Glassell Collection and The Glassell Collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston: Masterworks of Pre-Columbian, Indonesian, and African Gold. She has given many public and docent tours on a wide variety of art both at the MFAH and the Dallas Museum of Art, where she worked before moving to Houston. Chelsea earned her BA in Art History, cum laude from Mt. Holyoke College and her MA in Art History with a specialty in Mayan Art from Southern Methodist University. She is currently working on her Ph.D. in Ancient Roman Art from Rice University.
