Seminar 2022

Additive Manufacturing: Achievements and Standards of a Fascinating New Technology

August 11th, 2022

Additive Manufacturing Technologies are revolutionizing the manufacturing world by enabling designers to create new parts with geometries that were previously limited by traditional techniques. The host organization at Rice University is the Additive Manufacturing Performance and Tribology (AMPT) Center, and the full day seminar will be held at Duncan Hall. In this year’s seminar, the Houston ASM Chapter and Rice University will host presentations representing a wide variety of technical subjects, featuring speakers from academia as well as major industries such as aerospace and energy. Included will be a tour of The Rice University research facilities, as well as an opportunity to connect with with major companies in the industry at the exhibitors’ booths. The seminar will start at 8:30 AM and conclude at 6:00 PM. A light breakfast, lunch, and finally Star Pizza with beer and wine will be provided.

At this time, the seminar committee is still accepting abstracts. Abstracts should be no more than 500 words and should be accompanied by a brief biography of the presenter(s).  Abstracts should be sent in MS Word or PDF to seminar@asmhou.org.

This seminar will provide eight Professional Development Hours (PDH). For group discounts or additional information, please contact Sean Piper at SPiper@elwd.com.
